Adia Beckford was born and raised in the Bronx,
New York. She received a private school education from Kindergarten to the
completion of high school. Her well rounded persona was fostered at a young age
by her loving parents, Rodney and Gail, who afforded her lessons in dance,
theatre and music. She has preformed in Carnegie Hall, across seas in Bulgaria,
and on film in a major motion picture.
Besides her passion for the arts, Adia excelled in the field of science. Adia
Beckford received a BS in Biological Sciences from Hampton University in 2003.
After two years as a Sexual Health Educator for Harlem Hospital’s Adolescent
Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, she went on to receive a second degree in
Physician Assistant Studies in 2008, and is currently a licensed Physician
Assistant practicing medicine through the Columbia University Medical Center
Affiliation, NY.
Serving her community has always been paramount to Adia. She has been an active
member of the Phoenix Sorority of Minisink since her induction in 1996 and
currently serves as the President of the graduate chapter. Adia continues to
give back to her community and develop as a mentor for youth and adolescents
through her ongoing involvement in the Phoenix Sorority, Amachi New York
mentoring program, Impact Reparatory Theatre/Vibe, and the Health and Hospital’s
Corporation Affiliation.
